Aamis is an assamese movie.
I think it was a really good movie overall the plot was unique and the I liked the characters so recommended if you don't mind the plot.

Plot

I recommend going into it blind. As fucked as it is I think the plot is pretty unique and interesting.

It's a story about about sumon who is an anthropology phd student passionate about meat (like exploring and eating various kinda meat?) and a doctor Nirmali a married woman.

So, Sumon and Nirmali become friends and sumon takes her to different places eating different kinds of meat until one day he fucks it all up (I think anything more than that will spoil it)

The love story

I really like the relationship between Sumon and Nirmali. I'm not even sure if you can even call it romantic.

Like there were a couple of scenes when sumon tries to hold nirmali's hand but then he ends up thinking that it's wrong and pushes back. like a nice reminder to the viewers that even though it's all looking wholesome and all they're still having an illict affair and it's wrong..

And By the end of it (before the fuckup happens) you really end up shipping them hard and rooting for them 😭

The craziness (the story fucked up)

Okay I think the "craziness" ruined the story, so what happens is one day Sumon ends up having a dream that he wants to be inside Nirmali's belly, so he ends up cutting his thigh and cooking it 💀 (like wtf before it the story was going like a wholesome but taboo illict affair kinda thing now if you wanna make it crazy atleast make it make sense the transition didn't make any sense).

And after eating Sumon's meat Nirmali turns crazy and shes like I want more which was weird too she doesn't even feel guilty etc and she was shown as normal sweet woman now shes somehow all crazy???

Despite being stupid one thing I like about craziness is their love story is kinda ruined it feels like Nirmali is using Sumon for his meat and Sumon is sucha simp which does sound a bit stupid but kinda gives hints how their relationship isn't all wholesome anymore? idk like how this addiction turns her into seeing Sumon as just a meat supplier which is sad :/

Edit: I thought about it more and realized the fuck up wasn't as stupid the whole eating diff kinda meat thing was just their way of hiding their love and the reason Sumon cut his meat was because he saw it as a way of being physical with Nirmali.

The Child

One little plot hole in the story was Nirmali's kid like Nirmali is hanging out all the time who tf is taking care of her kid.

Side characters

So there are 2 main side characters Jumi (Nirmali's bsf) and Elias (Sumon's bsf)

So, Jumi is a woman with a loose character. I think she was a good friend and in the end you end up feeling bad for her :< seeing Nirmali like that..

One scene I loved about here was when she tells Nirmali about her being pregnant (she has a disorder due to which she can't get pregnant). But the child was one of her lover's not her husband's and now she really wants to be a mother and really don't wanna abort :< so yea we never got a conclusion but I hope she's happy with her child 😭.

Elias da (sumon's bsf) was a doctor. Sumon tricked him into extracting his meat by saying it's for anthropology project.. (which was kinda stupid tbh)

so in end police came to him too :/

Ending

So they get caught in the end and when they're shown to the media/world (for shaming ig?) they hold hands which shows that they finally accepted that they love each other but now its too late?

Conclusion

so, the story shows two taboos - Illict Affair and cannibalism.

It fucks up the second one so bad. I think the first one was done great like they're hanging out etc but there is some guilt and stuff but the second half one just comes off as edgy.. I rlly wish they just made it a love story.

Edit: I thought a bit about it and realized that making it a love story will kill its unique char so yea I think they did a great job even tho the transition kinda sucked I think they couldn't do much better in 1.5 hr movie I wish it was a tv show or something longer.

Edit2: now I feel like this movie is trying to convey something like unrequited love or something by meat eating like the meat eating is their way to hide their love/lust? and then slowly they end up feeling more and more so it gets fucked with human meat? I think this makes way more sense
